In the 14-day research trip ‘Transformation_OST’, visual artist Johannes Weilandt and director and performance artist Karoline Stegemann explored the post-socialist transformation experiences of the 90s and 00s of artists and cultural practitioners who grew up in the large Serbian housing estate Novi Beograd (‘New Belgrade’) and/or who have dealt with Novi Beograd artistically and theoretically. The research will be used to initiate a platform for sustainable exchange and future artistic collaborations with artists and cultural institutions that deal with the large East German housing estate Halle Neustadt in the same way.
