The series ORWO (Original Wolfen) by Johannes Weilandt is based on the film-documented dismantling of the East German film factory Wolfen in 1994. The factory was one of the companies with the largest proportion of female employees in the former GDR. As a result of failed privatisation and mass redundancies after 1989/90', some of the former female workers were hired to dismantle their former workplace with their own hands, remove machines and parts of buildings, dismantle and burn film reels. Workers leave their factory. The ORWO series takes up the dissolution in individual images and questions the fate of former workers between political upheaval and social structural change.
