‘forward and forget’ is the first video work by Johannes Weilandt. It was created as part of this year's ‘wohn_komplex’ festival to mark 60 years of Halle-Neustadt. Weilandt, who himself grew up in Halle-Neustadt during the 1990s, creates associative links between the political and historical dimensions of the neighbourhood in his work. In six short chapters, two cemeteries are confronted with the biography of a murdered worker, the continuity of right-wing violence and the definition of disappearance and forgetting with regard to the repression and overwriting of history(ies).
